Nach kurzem Exkurs jetzt auch die Gipfelsicht von der ersten Wanderung im Cilento. Nach Rast und Kaffee im Bergdorf Trentinara ging es auf schmalen Wegen nach Nordwesten weiter. Die GPS Tracks des Rother Wanderführers waren offenbar daheim bei einer guten Flasche Rotwein an der Karte skizziert worden - im Gelände landete ich auf einer anderen Variante. Von Cappacio Paestum kamen am Sonntagnachmittag die Gesänge der örtlichen Fußballfans herüber. Die Berge sind hier einfach benannt: Der höhere Gipfel nördlich von Cappacio ist der Monte Soprano, der kleinere südlich der Monte Sottano. Den Schlußanstieg wollte ich abkürzen, musste dafür aber mitten im Latschengestrüpp einen hässliche Zaun überwinden. Diue Aussicht entschädigte dafür, und ist für einen Berg mit so bescheidener Höhe beachtlich.

After a short excursion, here is the view of the summit from the first hike in Cilento. After a break and coffee in the mountain village of Trentinara, I continued north-westwards on narrow paths. The GPS tracks in the Rother hiking guide had obviously been sketched on the map at home over a good bottle of red wine - in the field I ended up on a different variant. From Cappacio Paestum on Sunday afternoon came the chants of the local football fans. The mountains here are simply named: The higher peak to the north of Cappacio is Monte Soprano, the smaller one to the south is Monte Sottano. I wanted to shorten the final ascent, but had to negotiate an ugly fence in the middle of the mountain pine scrub. The view made up for it, and is remarkable for a mountain of such modest height.
