Für den Rückweg von den römischen Ruinen von Volubilis nach Moulay Idris hatte ich eine am nördlichen Hang entlang führende Straße entdeckt, die sonnig und dekorativ unter den Felsen zwischen Olivenbäumen entlangführte und fast nicht befahren war. Hier gibt es einen auf Google Maps verzeichneten und auch von Reisegruppen (diese aber per Kleinbus) angesteuerten "Viewpoint" - eigentlich nicht mehr als eine günstig gelegene Parkbucht. Der Blick vermittelt nochmal einen guten Eindruck der Kleinstadt. Zurück im Zentrum fand ich ein abfahrbereites, auf den letzten Fahrgast wartendes Sammeltaxi vor, war schnell wieder in Meknes, und hatte dort noch einen netten Nachmittag in der Medina.

For the return walk from the Roman ruins of Volubilis to Moulay Idris, I had discovered a road leading along the northern slope, which was sunny and decorative and led under the rocks between the olive trees and was almost unfrequented. There is a "viewpoint" here that is marked on Google Maps and is also used by tour groups (but these are by minibus) - actually nothing more than a conveniently located parking bay. The view gives another good impression of the small town. Back in the centre, I found a shared taxi ready to leave, waiting for the last passenger, and was quickly back in Meknes, where I had a nice afternoon in the medina.
