Two valleys, one descending from the big Tilicho lake, the other one descending from the high Thorung La, join to form the main Marsyangdi valley, the long bow which borders north the Annapurna massif.
The majority of trekkers head straight to the (higher, but easier) Thorung La, to cross into the Kali Gandaki, which is also the door to the Mustang world. Few border the Tilicho lake and cross the Mesokanto La, 300 m lower than Thorung La, but requiring full equipment for independent camping. What I am doing here, with my single sherpa and no porters, is to come back from the visit to Tilicho (which I already documented in several pictures, the most informative one being N.26507), to turn around this ridge, and to join the mainstream Thorung La route, which is so clearly visible in the picture.
