Measures have been taken to ensure water safety in the Kampen-Zwolle region. Kampen is particularly troubled by high water levels in the river IJssel. A high water channel, the Reevediep, has been built for this. This is a new side branch of the IJssel, which starts just before the Molenbrug near Kampen. The Reevediep flows from the IJssel to the Drontermeer. More than three hundred hectares of new delta nature have been realized in the Reevediep. Including new walking, strolling and cycling paths, a fairway for recreational shipping and space for a new residential area near Kampen. In the middle left, on the horizon, the church tower of Wilsum can still be seen, on the right the Molenbrug with, on the other bank, the residential area of Kampen.
