Area: Germany      Date: 5. 9. 2013

Hallo Wilfried. I am always happy to watch these habitat-panos. You are right, the orchids don't really burn through here - were you torn between showing the habitat and showing the flowers? If that is the case you could consider Christian Hönigs style, by ending very close to the subject:

The orchid lies in the back of the head of many danish botanics, with the last verified observation back in 1981, and a few not-verified observations since then. With its modest appearance in mind it is not yet declared extinct in Denmark, and maybe it could benefit from global warming and re-naturation/improved management of older locations. As you write, however, it is not likely to spread up through Germany. I guess it is because of fragmentation. In Denmark, a few of the locations were small and isolated islands (Bornholm ao), so it must have some sort of potential for spreading out. LG Jan.

Jan, as far as I know, Spiranthes spiralis can no longer be found in Northern Germany. By the way, it is possible to see a vertical pano of the plant on my website (http://panoramen-und-natur.de/index.php/biotop-vertikal/236-drehwurz).
Dank und Gruß an alle Betrachter und Bewerter! Wilfried
