f you ever have the chance to visit Chicago - you should definitely visit either this place or the John Hancock Center. Unfortunately in both places you can only see the city behind glass - and no tripods are allowed. The view is very magnificent - but at least I had to wait 2 hours to get to the top (and that was 1 hour faster than announced - due to the fact that i was willing to walk 10 floors in between).

I personally think the view of downtown Chicago is better from John Hancock though, but for night pictures Sears Tower beats it, since the square structure and the view up to the horizon at night is just breathtaking. During daylight I thought it is far less impressive though.
