Briançon (little more than 10,000 inhabitants) is a commune in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France. At an altitude of 1.326 metres it is one of the highest cities in Europe.
Briançon lies at the foot of the descent from the Col de Montgenèvre, giving access to Turin and is characterized by a large number of fortifications. Today it is a known ski resort.

A very nice town indeed. I still have an unpublished summer pano from July last year rotating on my disk, taken from almost the same point just a few meters higher up the slope...your view gives an even nicer angle on the church in front of the mountains. Cheers, Martin
