Vom Bosporus könnte ich noch ein oder zwei Motive zeigen, aber es wird ggf. eintönig, als springe ich zum letzten Tag der Reise, zum Nachmittag vor dem Rückflug. Ich hatte mich an diesem Tag auf einige der berühmten Moscheen und das wunderbare Museum für islamische Kunst am Sultanahmet konzentriert. Mittags konnte ich draußen in der Sonne essen, dann wurde es wieder wolkiger. Am Ende stand das Meisterwerk Sinans, die Süleymaniye - hier ein Pano mit der Hauptsehenswürdigkeit im Rücken, nochmals mit Blick auf Stadt und Meer, und die vielen Kuppeln der Nebengebäude.

Erbaut zwischen 1550 und 1557, krönt die Süleymaniye-Moschee Istanbuls Skyline als Symbol für das Goldene Zeitalter der Osmanen. Fernab von reinem Prunk besticht sie durch eine fast überirdische Harmonie aus Licht, Akustik und architektonischer Perfektion. Als Herz eines riesigen Komplexes verkörpert sie bis heute die ideale Verbindung von Spiritualität und sozialer Fürsorge.

I could show one or two more motifs from the Bosphorus, but it might become monotonous, so I'll jump to the last day of the trip, the afternoon before the return flight. On that day, I concentrated on some of the famous mosques and the wonderful Museum of Islamic Art in Sultanahmet. At the end was Sinan's masterpiece, the Süleymaniye – here a panorama with the main attraction in the background, again with a view of the city and the sea, and the many domes of the adjoining buildings.

Built between 1550 and 1557, the Süleymaniye Mosque crowns Istanbul's skyline as a symbol of the Golden Age of the Ottomans. Far from pure pomp, it captivates with an almost supernatural harmony of light, acoustics and architectural perfection. As the heart of a huge complex, it still embodies the ideal combination of spirituality and social welfare.
