There are many works of art along the entire river, from Nordheim to Zwolle. On the dyke near Zwolle is the project "Soul Ships" by artist Cornelius Rogge. The source of the Vecht is located in the town of Darfeld (municipality of Rosendahl, North Rhine-Westphalia) and ends (after 167 kilometers) in the Zwartewater, a few kilometers North of Zwolle. In the past, the river served for the transport of local products such as cotton, rye and sandstone. In this time, however, the Vecht is only navigated by pleasure boats.
