On October 15, 1987, a plane crashed into the mountains around Lake Como, at the exact point from which this pano was taken.
The plane took off from Milan-Linate airport to Köln-Bonn airport and fell with the bow to the ground along the mountain slopes at about 700 meters after an uncontrolled descent.
The cause was attributed to the formation of ice on the wings of the plane.
At the scene of the incident there is a memorial to the victims, from which the pano was taken.
