Guarding the eastern entrance of the fragrant harbour, the remote Wanglan Island was once packed with various government parties: lighthouse operated by Marine Department, HMS Tamar's radar station, Civil Aviation Department operated an aviation traffic control station, Royal Observatory prepared weather forecasts, and Cable & Wireless Co. maintained radio equipment there.
