Panorama Photo

Am Ende eines eindrucks-reichen Tages machte ich im Mündungsgebiet des Rio Guadiana noch Halt in Castro Marim. Die Burg war zwar schon geschlossen, die Festungsanlage gegenüber bot aber noch einen Aussichtspunkt über die Ebene. Euren Mut bei der Besteigung von Burgmauern zur Verbesserung des Panorama-Standorts teile ich nicht; bei der Breite der Mauern hier brauchte ich mir aber keine Sorgen zu machen. Bald setzten Dämmerung und Regen ein. Ich kurvte mit dem Auto noch kurz durch das attraktiv erscheinende Vila Real de Santo Antonio direkt an der Flussmündung; die Besichtigung muss aber für ein andermal warten.

At the end of an impressive day, I stopped in Castro Marim in the estuary of the Rio Guadiana. The castle was already closed, but the fortress opposite still offered a vantage point over the plain. I don't share your courage in climbing castle walls to improve the panoramic location; however, with the width of the walls here, I didn't need to worry. Soon dusk and rain set in. I made a short drive through the attractive Vila Real de Santo Antonio, right at the mouth of the river, but the proper visit will have to wait for another time.
