=========================================
As a Christmas greeting, I chose the scene with the most beautiful chapel that I discovered this year. This is also the last panorama of the series from the Greek islands in spring for the time being.
Usually, the chapel of the Prophet Elijah adorns the summit of many Greek mountains and the highest points of the islands. The mountains are then also named after it, which leads to a certain monotony in the labelling here. On the icons in these chapels, Elijah is usually depicted in a wild rocky landscape.
Here on Andros, it was surprising that the highest point (neighbouring pano #31515) was a Profitis Ilias, but there was no chapel at the top. However, in the misty ascent I had spotted a prominent rock with something white on it on the north-western slope of the ridge. Now that it had become sunny, I chose this path for the descent and was surprised to see two very decorative chapels built atop and below the rocks (Profitis Ilias and Panagia = All Saints), which I had never read about in my travel preparations. Moreover, the views got better.
With this picture, I wish everyone in the community here a Merry Christmas and a relaxing holiday season.
