SOLVED RIDDLE.

There are many great reasons to visit this area of Ireland.
You can reach Croagh Patrick (Cruach Phádraig), which is a kind of sacred mountain for the Irish. For centuries it has been a place of pilgrimage in honor of St. Patrick, who in 441 remained on the summit for 40 days, building a church that still exists today.
St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year on March 17, and is the most important festivity in the Republic of Ireland.

But there is also something else. Down there is a monument, the "Ireland’s National Famine Memorial" a memorial commemorating the great famine between 1845 and 1849.
It is a scary and impressive monument, commemorating the million and a half Irish people who died of hunger during the great famine (1845-9).
To understand Ireland you need to know this history and the controversies that have arisen from it.
Without going into details, the Irish accuse the British, more or less explicitly, of having voluntarily left them to starve.

You are on the way to the top of a famous mountain... ;-)

Hi Werner, it was easy for you. I went to climb a famous mountain, but I couldn't do it for the really bad weather. Shortly after this shot there was a rain storm.
But then I saw an awful thing. I'm a little surprised you didn't mention it.

Do you mean the memorial across the parking lot?

Yes. The memorial is scary, but the story it refers to is even scarier.

I agree with you.

It is not on March, 17th, but it should be, shouldn't it?

Hello Peter. it is as you say.
I think that on March 17th there are a lot of people trying to climb the mountain.

It seems that you don't have the "weather gods" on your side when you're travelling north, Giuseppe ;-) !!! The comments of Werner and Peter made me understand too ... but I just saw on my mobile, that I didn't send my comment from this afternoon correctly, and only rated your misty mystical impression ... sorry.

Cheers, Hans-Jörg
