A few miles across the sea - west of Hong Kong, lies Macao. Like Hong Kong, this is also a special administrative region under China. The city was ruled by the Portuguese from 1557 to 1999. As Hong Kong, Macao has a high degree of autonomy for the first 50 years after China's takeover - that is, until 2049. Originally Macao consisted of three islands. The area between the two southern islands has, however, been filled in, and thus in reality there are now only two islands.

Very interesting. And in all aspects, 21st century Chinese rather than Portuguese. Any remainder of the latter visible in the city? Cheers, Martin

i read that Macau's Casino economy is currently badly suffering because of the Corona Virus, but I'm not an expert. The scenery and light conditions on this panorama might not be the most beautiful, but really like the composition and geometry of the image! Cheers!
