The "agro segestese" is the rural surroundings of Segesta. Segesta was an ancient city, no longer inhabited, located in the north-west of Sicily.
According to legend, Segesta was founded by Enea to rest the old men and women, before continuing the trip to Rome.
The city had its heyday with the Hellenistic culture, but was inhabited by:
Elimi (an ancient Italic population), Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Arabs, Normans, Swabians and some others that I will surely forget ;-)
The walls in ruins that are seen in the pano are those of the Norman castle.

E il tempio te lo sei messo in tasca??
PS: geniale come spunta su la Rocca Busambra.

The city is now uninhabited, but to Chang'an time it was already populated ;-)

Sorry - was too tired on Sunday evening to start searching in detail, although Sicily was obvious. Great view. Cheers, Martin
