Arsenal is the former naval base of the old republic of Venice. Until 1806 it was accessible only through two gates, the water gate ;-) (Ingresso all'Acqua) and the main portal (Ingresso di Terra). We are here on the little bridge in front of these gates.

Das Arsenal ist die ehemalige Schiffswerft, das Zeughauses und Flottenbasis der ehemaligen Republik Venedig. Es wurde durch Mauern und Türme befestigt und war bis 1806 nur durch zwei Eingänge erreichbar.

Wir stehen hier auf der Fußgängerbrücke über den Rio de l'Arsenal direkt vor dem Wassertor (Ingresso all'Acqua), das durch ein Fallgitter abgeschossen werden konnte. Links davon das Portaltor (Ingresso di Terra) in Form eines Triumphbogens.

I know well the place. It is a pano very difficult and very nice.
P.S.: In Italian (and in Venetian...) you should remove the A initial.

Do you mean the "A" in "A Ponte ..."? I wanted to name it in Italian language like "On the top of Ponte ...", What's the right way to say this in Italian, Giuseppe?

"Ponte de L'Arsenal o del Paradiso" or "Il Ponte de L'Arsenal o del Paradiso" (with the article). So it is written (a little) in Venetian ;-).
In Italian, if you prefer, we should write "Il Ponte dell' Arsenale o del Paradiso". But it's OK in Venetian, so it's more refined ;-).

Grazie, Giuseppe. Unfortunately I know only single words or short phrases in Italian language. The title I used (w/o the "A") is from the sign at the right of the bridge. I assume it's Venetian.

Du sagst es, Michael, und schon musste ich etwas nachbessern: die Treppenstufen zur Brücke waren nicht ganz verkehrssicher. --- I needed to repair the steps of the bridge.

Hervorragend. Was für ein Motiv für ein 360° Pano. Nur den Anschluss des Geländers (auf beiden Seiten ansteigend) verstehe ich nicht. VG Martin

Martin, die Geländer sind tatsächlich beide ansteigend bis sie sich in einem stumpfen Winkel in der Brückenmitte treffen. Durch Maskierung beider Randbilder fehlt hier ein kleines Stück. Ich schau mal, ob sich das nicht doch noch schlüssiger darstellen lässt. LG Arno

Nach Martins Hinweis habe ich jetzt das Geländer an den beiden Rändern etwas anders ausgestaltet, ohne dabei die Symmetrie allzusehr zu stören. LG Arno
