An impression from where the "neck" between NW-Iceland and mainland Iceland is the thinnest. A perfect landscape for hiking.

Pano made from 33 pics (RAW), 70-200mm@70mm, iso-100, f/8, 1/400 sec, developed in DPP (daylight, neutral, moderate sharpness), stitched in PTGui pro, scaling and sharpening in Irfanview.

Haben diese Säule außerirdische aufgestellt :-)

We're in the beginning of Summer here. Do these snowfields actually ever vanish ?

Wild again. Is the ground suitable for pathless walking? Cheers, Martin

HJB1 & Martin, I think there are snowfields that survives each summer, but I guess every now and then there comes a particular prolonged period of mild and rainy autumn weather, that melts everything away.

This landscape is fantastic for hiking, since the rock surface is sort of sweeped for most pointed structures, and lacks large groths of thickets and bushes. easy to walk for miles in sneakers, at least on a dry day. LG Jan.
