An impression from the easternmost area of the northwestern fjords in Iceland. Wellknown fjells from the previous panos, but from a different perspective. The view across Húnaflói became even better, so I started arming the camera for longer view after this pano. However, it still took a few hours to get the last haze out the air...

Pano made from 22 pics (RAW), 50 mm, iso-100, f/9, 1/400 sec, developed in DPP (daylight, neutral, moderate sharpness), stitched in PTGui pro, scaling and sharpening in Irfanview.

Hi Jan.

A few days ago I saw Godland (Vanskabte Land, or so, in Danish - pardon me for the ortography mistakes!) by Hlinur Palmason - in Danish and Icelandic with English subtitles. I think you know the author and the film very well... I liked it very much both for the style and for the tremendous Icelandic landscapes, so huge and "inhuman", with which the harsh story narrated by the film finds a perfect assonance. In the film I found many references to all your views of Iceland, so much that I even seemed to recognize some places even though I've never been on the island. If I'm not mistaken some final scenes (of extraordinary strength, about the inexorable passing of time that dominates and annihilates every human and animal affair) seem to have been shot at the foot of Vatnajökull. Is it possible? Anyway I must say that I admire and appreciate a lot the Danish directors of recent years: Lars Von Trier, Vinterberg, Winding Refn (and obviously Palmason, though he's Icelandic).

There are still beautiful empty places on earth. I think the crop is okay. We see the full 360° and wideness and solitude are well expressed.

Thanks to all for the "Zuspruch" :-) Alvise, I certainly have heard of the film, but sadly not seen it yet. But you are right, the landscapes looks familiar. Although Iceland is overall in a mild climate, this only show in the winter. The sun doesn't really burn through in summer, so the lack of summer is probably what is most striking about the land. Unlike the extremes of, say, Canada or Russia. Glad you like nordic movie directors!
