The days journey ended in Heydalur ("Hay valley"), where we stayed for the night, and my wife was supposed to ride a roundtrip in the landscape on horseback.
My son and I used the opportunity to ascent the local fjell, which turned out to be our only proper hiking trip. Unfortunately, the weather was deterioating compared to the clear sky earlier in the day. Therefore, the view to Drangajökull and Gláma (900+ m) was somewhat limited. This in-between view had the best combination of heighth and far views.
