Location: Linea Gotica      by: Giuseppe Marzulli
Area: Italy      Date: 19 July 2022
I am in the ruins of some trenches of the Gothic Line, which, in this area was located here and I look at Mount Carchio.
There is a strong contrast between the beauty of the landscape and the damage caused by the quarries and the thought of war.
Mount Carchio in the nineteenth century was higher, it was lowered by the activity of a now abandoned quarry.

Not the highest, but one of the most impressive parts of the Appennines

The unusual thing is that the Apuane are Apennines, but they are called the Alps.

Such beautiful mountains, the Apuan Alps ! Nonetheless a lot of remains of WWII to be kept as "Beware of".

Very nice. I still have not managed to go there, although the idea is many years old. Cheers, Martin
