Among the mountains, in a starry night, even blessed by a full moon, you will indeed feel totally in peace with the world. If necessary, the temperatures that you can expect at 01 a.m. at 4740 will improve your sensation of peace.
So, finding the panoramic position occupied by a sleeping yak, you will optimistically suppose that, sharing your mood, the animal will peacefully accept a host who, after positioning his tripod, begins to shoot a long series of photographs...
And so it went indeed in this case!

Not only an incredibly beautiful night panorama, but also of deep personal interest to me: My father spent some time here on a scientific expedition in 1963. From his pictures, I only recall some poor stone huts and their tents, no electric light, metal roofs, glass windows, tourist accomodation, etc. -- the world has changed much -- great to study the view presented here. Cheers, Martin

Glad to hear this.
In Nepal I never saw historic material on the shelves of the refuges.
Unlike the Pamir base camp, where there was plenty material about the former Russian glories...
Here is a study about the Ama Dablam alone (three photos): http://bit.ly/36SckJI
