Aufnahmestandort: Gennerdijk Hasselt (2 m)      Fotografiert von: Arjan Veldhuis
Gebiet: Netherlands      Datum: 24 januari 2019
Old winding dyke between Hasselt and Zwolle along the river Overijsselse Vecht. These are the floodplains of the river on the Hasselt side. The flood plains consist of grasslands outside the dike, in which strings, whirls, river dunes, coppice groves and pollard willows (see photo) occur. The area is by far the largest growing place of the wild plover flower (Fritillaria meleagris) and stronghold of this species in Europe. In addition, the flood plains form an important resting and foraging area for birds such as Lesser Swan, White-fronted Goose, Lapwing and Black-tailed Godwit. Porcupine and Quail's King breed in wet, rugged grasslands. Also the Hawk, Sparrowhawk and Buzzard can be seen here.

Nice to look at these headpastures in wintry surroundings.
But the area looks so small that I can't think of it as a flood area.
