The western part of the island Amager close to Copenhagen is a strong contrast to the urban development of the rest of the city. Western Amager escaped urbanity first by providing grazing land to the cattle that was providing meat and milk, second by being low lying and therefore unreliable as building ground. In fact a large part is now below sealevel, held dry by a dike and pumps. And last for being used as a military training ground the last century. Now, it serves purely as a recreational area for the masses. Only exception is the futuristic gestalt of Ørestad. In the 70's the future development of Copenhagen on Amager was planned, and a development of the otherwise quiet and somewhat spared area of northern Amager was agreed on. It was agreed to make a villanova - Ørestad - with well defined borders, and spare the rest of Amager from further development.

Since no military activity are taking place, it has been opened to the public. Severel small bulletcatcherhills give the area some good viewpoints in the otherwise flat landscape.

Pano made from 51 pics (RAW), 70-200mm@100mm, iso-100, 1/400 sec, f/8, developed in DPP (daylight, neutral, ALO off, moderate sharpness), stitched in PTGui pro, contrast, downscaling and sharpening in Irfanview.

Ich wundere mich immer wieder, daß in Deinen Panoramen so oft Kraftwerke zu sehen sind, wo doch Dänemark gleichbedeutend mit Windkrafträdern steht.

One day, for Denmark, we don't need Streetview anymore, because we have the panoramics of Jan :-)
