The Isonzo or Soca or Sontig is a 138-kilometre long river that flows through western Slovenia and northeastern Italy.
During World War I, it was the scene of bitter fighting between Italians and Austrians (12 Battles of the Isonzo).
After the World War II, the area remained on the border between NATO and the communist world.
Only recently has it been a quiet area.

This could be taken from exactly the same point I took a panormic myself in 2014.
But I did not have your light and colors, so I never showed it.

Well done, Giuseppe!

Hi Arne. They are not too famous places, but I am also a fan of the Isonzo.

Bella scialpinistica deve essere il Krn!

Selten und schön! Geschichtsträchtige Gegend. 12 grausigste Schlachten fanden hier im 1. Weltkrieg letztlich ohne kriegsentscheidendes Ergebnis statt. Ein klassisches Beispiel für jahrelanges Gemetzel, dass Soldaten in ihrem eigenen Blut wegen der Fehlentscheidungen von Politikern und hohen Militärs ausbaden müssen.

And we must think, for example, that they fought for the conquest of Monte Nero (Krn) or Monte Rosso (Batognica). The front line passed on top of Monte Rosso (Batognica). The conditions of life in the trenches were scary.
And despite this, they fought.
Nationalist folly.
