Let me restore this old Schlechtwetterpano, with the Martial massif and the Beagle channel. It should also be one of the southernmost summit panoramas on this site.

Most useful to understand the subject should be the GPS track:

So you did not take the famous chair lift? I remember this place very well, we had a bit more sun but very strong wind up there.

No, the pleasure was to walk up from the sea to the ski resort and then to the mountains.
Then... expert trekkers say that the Martial group is rather dull when compared the the mountains of Navarino, on the other side of the Beagle channel. Personally, as an inhabitant of the Alps I do not know if I will ever go back to those places in order to do the Navarino trails. The Martial group is actually what you see here... however, I had pleasure especially when walking at midnight without a headlamp. The timing of https://goo.gl/HfvqgA taken the previous day, reads 23.18...

Great landscape, even in "Schlechtwetter". Interesting to see the amount of infrastructure that far South. And even more interesting that this is "South" only in relative terms (our five southernmost panoramas are all around Ushuaia), but that in absolute terms the ca. 54,5°S projected to the Northern hemisphere correspond to the German-Danish border... Cheers, Martin

Great.

In my archive the image that better approximates 54.78° N is this one:

Curiously, also here one sees shelters against the wind, but perhaps in Ushuaia they would fly away!
Cheers, Alberto.
