Since it is quite hard and painful to read all the real bad "Reiseführer" availale for almost everywere we just drove through the country with something like a feeling what we want to see. So we were quite astonished when we found the parking lot full and everyone in this church when we arrived here on a sunday morning ;-)
The cloister is the Santuario de la Virgen de la Barca. Ultimate endpoint for many pilgrims. Its roof burned down on December 26th 2013 in a horrible winter storm: http://www.elmundo.es/espana/2013/12/25/52babbf4268e3e88648b458d.html Its rebuilding is a miracle as it is the rebirth of this coast after the Prestige disaster in 2006. If you do not believe my words on travel literature buy some covering your home town / region and compare written "facts" to your knowledge of truly scenic and interesting spots ... I did so for Tirol with a Lonley Planet. 17 HF RAWs etc etc etc |
