The Chemrey gompa is located in a very scenic place, above the lush valley of Sakti, leading to the high passes Chang La (5372 m) and Wari La (5308 m). It was after descending from the former pass that we swept the whole of Sakti and of its surroundings in search for a meal before tackling the latter pass. But in the early afternoon we were not able to find anything. The locals seemed not to be very concerned with our nutritional needs: goo.gl/UFYVDB
So, the only choice for us was to stop in Sakti, leaving the Wari La for the next morning. It was exploring a bit around that we approached the gompa, but we did not visit it inside, as we had done thoroughly with the Thiksey gompa down in the Indus valley.
