Castel Pietra is the very image of the old, mysterious castle secluded on a high rock, and, as a bonus, at the entrance of one of the most striking (for me, indeed the most) valleys of the Dolomites, namely, Val Canali.
Once the eagle's nest of the powerful tyroler Welsperg family, now the castle is in bad status and officially inaccessible. However, under your own risk, you can reach the wall perimeter by the means shown in

Much more adventurously, you can get inside by the means shown in
www.panoramio.com/photo/132833490
Of the two ropes that you see, the second one was positioned by me for the descent, just in case... Namely, I spare to you the status of the (very old) first rope at the friction point against the wall, since the scene would by no way be for the faint-hearted (if any).
Once inside, to shoot the present panorama one needs another, less tricky, wall climbing. When on top the photographer, probably with an eye to his own survival, can collect at most what I am showing here, because the spot is, so to say, heavily vegetated - consider that the noble family is extinct since 1907, with the death of Count Heinrich von Welsperg.

Jan: in case you are a good climber, do not worry, and try it...
You know that disclaimers are often a bit of an overkill!
Saluti, Alberto.
