A mountain where the fierce winds blowing from the Hielo Sur produce, together with the whirling snow, a noise like that of thunder in an electrical storm: this is what Padre Alberto De Agostini named «Cerro Eléctrico». De Agostini himself realized the first ascent of the mountain, in 1932, together with the Italian guide Mario Derriard.
The scenic East side the Cerro hosts a steep glacier, which turns the East summit into a rather known ski ascent. I wanted to research the chance to climb the summit from Piedra del Fraile, on the north side, since once there was a busy ongoing Internet quarrel on the topic. Namely, the summit was reported as a viable peak for trekkers in the first edition of the Lonely Planet «Trekking in the Patagonian Andes». But several voices on the net dubbed the author of the volume, Clem Lindenmayer, as a perfect irresponsible, sending the poor trekkers straight into jeopardy...
I do not know if the route that I followed is the one proposed by Lonely Planet. Since I gradually got rid of all the guidebooks during my subsequent bicycle tour, I do no longer own that volume. In any case, I did not feel the mountain inaccessible. I heavily suspect that the whole quarrel was simply originated by somebody who got lost en route.

Felskante mit Photoshop kreativ geschaffen (keine Orogenese...), und auch Farbtemperatur minimal geändert.
