Recently, looking at a 200-th panorama, I realized with a certain surprise that I am already beyond that number and that I am "hosted" here since more than five years. The latter detail came to even larger surprise, since it seems to me right yesterday that I was fighting with Gimp, e.g., for the difficult art of sharpening at 500 pixel - I never had the idea to move the Radius slider from its default value 5.0 (?!), to a perhaps healthier 0.1 or 0.2...

Five years later I am frequently setting to myself questions, more than about the sharpening radius, about the interest radius of the average Betrachter. The point of no return that forced me to formulate such questions was my Lago Argentino panorama N.18358: not without a certain dismay, I saw how, nowadays, a work bearing such an information content can even fail to find a dozen of interested people. Interested, or at least amused by the variety of Quixotic efforts behind a work of that type, from crossing (following the intuition) a thick bend of thorny bushes to setting (following here Udeuschle) control points between unknown and unnamed summits and ridges.
I wonder if something like this could have happened years ago, and my tentative answer is negative. Consequently, I have the feeling that maybe the people's interests have changed around me, without me being able to perceive this. In such a case, the first temptation would be to simply say stop. But then we are also governed by inertia, and by the desire to continue... Add that, in these amazingly long (for Internet standards) five years I witnessed the more or less sudden disappearance of several people, and I recognize how this is in turn disappointing.
On the other hand, it is clear that nobody, after a Lago Argentino experience (and that was only an example), can wish to proceed straight on that way, without being dubbed at least as insane.
So, I arrived to a temporary solution: In the near future I will neither disappear, nor publish "heavy" works any more, with "heavy" for me meaning original, or instructive, or things like that. I will produce occasional objects like the present one, in case adding description, links, labels, but so to say only on demand: no longer 100 carefully researched and checked names for 10 interested people!
Is this spirit, I just say that to understand the present view it is sufficient to consider the previous Maiella panorama.

Per me è meravigliosa. Vorrei averla fatta io...

Great view, even if it is only for a few of us (and don't forget the silent Betrachters)!

Jens: this is perfectly in tune, silent Betrachters for a very silent place!

True remarks - I myself have come to the conclusion that I do the labeling and research primarily for myself, as the geographical learning greatly enhances the "after-experience" of travel and supports future plans. If some of the Betrachters (and surely a minority) care to look at the details, even better. Cheers, Martin

Also I think as Martin. I could copy his words.
And because I know the photographed area, I repeat that this is an exceptional pano. I am very sorry that has not been properly appreciated.
