SOLVED RIDDLE.

The cliffs at Vixía Herbeira are the highest on the European mainland, at 615 metres. They also make up one of the most beautiful landscapes in Galicia.

Comments

It is not Slieve League, which is also a coastline above 600 metres and also located in a very green land.

I have to agree. It is not Slieve League, but it almost looks like. But it is not in Ireland.
2014/07/03 22:52 , Giuseppe Marzulli
could it be Madeira?
2014/07/03 23:43 , Mentor Depret
No, it is in geographical Europe.

I dont know, where it is, but beautiful landscape and nice colors! LG Fried

I think "it's the same procedure as every time" ... if we have unsolved riddles ... ask" Mister Round About the World" ;-)

Great picture Giuseppe - i saw the sheeps and i also thought about Ireland!

Tanti saluti

For what is my experience, the landscape resembles enough to the Irish, even though the light seems a bit different from the Irish.
It is not easy, but it is not impossible, considering the information of the height above sea level. I may add that we are not in the Mediterranean Sea.
2014/07/04 19:01 , Giuseppe Marzulli
Perhaps northern Spain, Asturie?
2014/07/04 19:50 , Mentor Depret
Spain, but not Asturie.
2014/07/04 20:36 , Giuseppe Marzulli
near Donostia, Basque Country?
2014/07/04 22:41 , Mentor Depret
No, not even the Basque Country. It is a place well known in the area and it has a specific characteristic. But it is in an area where non-Spanish visitors are very, very few.

With all the hints given I tried to figure out if it could be in the province of Galicia. Beautiful coastline (e.g. Viveiro to Cedeira, Costa Artabra), I learned a lot about the province, about Santiago but I could not find a shoreline point above 600 m. So I think it is not in that province, too.

Yes, we are in Galicia and those photographed are the cliffs of Vixia Herbeira. According to wikipedia, they are the cliffs with a greater dimension on continental Europe.

This is a very nice area, very little known outside of Galicia, and that is reminiscent of the Ireland. The height above sea level indicated by signs located on site indicate 615m.

Whow - so I was very close - the 600 m line in google maps is touched only in one location - too hard to find for me obviously

Of course I would never call me now a "solver of that riddle" for me this is the rare occasion of an unsolved riddle at pp. Congratulations Giuseppe and thousand thanks for bringing my attention to this beautiful spot although - if I interpereted google maps correctly - in your back there are huge wind turbines ...

Herzlichst Christoph

A needle in a haystack...
Like Christoph wrote: To find a highest point in the spanish coastline is a challenge, when you have only Google - even, if one knows about the similarity of Galicias landscape to Irelands. But however, a riddle seems to me even more interesting sometimes than ''only'' a superb panorama. It´s a pity, that my Italian is too poor for these few sentences.
Greetings Wolfgang
