Ist das dein Schatten da unten?
Sieht jedenfalls stark aus, wie sich der Pfad durch's Bild schlängelt, die Wolken garnieren das Ganze noch zusätzlich. Der Horizont erscheint in der Tat etwas verdächtig, das erinnert mich ein bischen an meine Azoren Krater Bilder ;)

Ja, das "komische" sollte mein Eigenschatten sein.

Der Weg ist übrigens sanft abfallend aber recht weitläufig angelegt. Zwei Wanderer im "Bergauf-Modus" sind zu sehen.

Zum Horizont noch etwas: Wir stehen hier über den Wolken, der Horizont, d.h. der Pazifik ist nicht sichtbar. Im Sommer befinden sich diese Inseln im Einflußgebiet der Passat-Winde, die Massen-Erhebung der 3000 - 4000 m hohen Vulkane im Archipel sind so groß, dass es Luv-Seitig zu einem Anstau kommt, Lee-Seitig liegt die Wolken-Obergrenze wesentlich tiefer. Der Blick geht hier nach Nordost, wir blicken daher in die Hauptwind-Richtung. Ich kann daher nicht sagen, ob die Aufwölbung der Wolken vollkommen den Tatsachen entspricht oder nicht. Klar ist, dass die Ausrichtung, die der Stitcher gewählt hat, nicht gestimmt hat - die Verzerrungen sind da zu groß.

Nice road, must be added to the bicycle todo list!

Yes, indeed - downhill cycling is a tourist attraction at Haleakala, although I saw no cyclists (we tried to go up and down at times with lower tourist frequencies ...). Uphill would be 3000 m elevation gain on a perfectly maintained road partially crossing pastures with frequent cow encounters (so nothing unusual for you). Once up at the point I am at, you could go downhill and - by keeping left on rough paths you would come back through the Ko'olau gap to the main road.

Well, take into account that cyclists are strange animals...
Three days ago I was cycling to the Perito Moreno viewpoint. I was the unique cyclist, and tourists rushed down from buses to have a photo with me. (To some of them I told: remember that you paid the ticket for the glacier, not for me. Could you at least take the photo from the other side, with the glacier in the background?)
But the real question was: Where are the other dozens of cyclists that there are here all around?
Simple: since they are all heading towards Alaska, they were pedalling in the pampa in direction Alaska! Namely, if you are heading to Alaska, you cannot afford a detour to the glacier, otherwise the followers of your Blog, that you feed daily from our Tablet, ask: What's going on, that I find you for two consecutive days at the same latitude?
So, in your case, check the local fashion prescriptions, and/or find out the most direct road to Alaska, and there you will find all the adventurers...
Vielleicht wirst Du dort auch sagen: Es hat sich eine Schlange gebildet! :-)

Auch hier zauberst Du wieder ein Pano aus dem "Ärmel" so ganz nach meinem Geschmack. Dafür muß man leider so weit reisen...

Mit diesem Blick in den Krater hinein verbinde ich auch die allerschönsten Erinnerungen. Das ist schon eine atemberaubende Landschaft. Schön, dass Du dieses Motiv hier zeigst.
