I think everyone know the Coliseum. Very few know that close to the Colosseum there was the Temple of Venus and Rome.
The Temple of Venus and Rome was the largest temple in Ancient Rome. Located between the eastern edge of the Forum Romanum and the Colosseum, it was dedicated to the goddesses Venus Felix (Venus the Bringer of Good Fortune) and Roma Aeterna (Eternal Rome).
Venus also represented love (Amor in Latin), and "AMOR" is "ROMA" spelled backwards.
Unfortunately, little remains of the Temple today.
The Coliseum and the Arch of Constantine are under renovation.

"Kolossal" - as we say in german ;-))
And a very clear view on a sunny day. KR Arno

I looked at the picture the whole day but not at the votes. I am ashamed that it got up to now only one vote.

For everyone who has not been there - it is quite complicated to find such a perfect location to portrait this ruins - the other pictures from the vicinity prove this quite impressively.

In addition - the always abundant tourist blend into the picture very well, typical postures!

Thank you for your comments. I wanted to ask you a technical opinion. I have the impression that there is perhaps too much sharpness. I thought to correct. What is your opinion?

Hard to say. I think the colours are quite saturated which might come from the sharpening process. A bit less could be more but ... You had bright sky and the sun quite high. Maybe the saturated colours match the reality - only you know ...

Thanks Christoph. The colors were true. I tried to modify the pano slightly. I think now it's better and that deserves your compliments ;).
Even I enjoy the tourists photographed in typical postures ;).

Hihi great!!! :-)

I'm glad you liked it. I do not know if the technique is perfect, but I really like it, because it is an unusual view of the Colosseum, because it shows the little-known temple of Venus and Rome, and because the tourists are photographed in stereotypical postures.
