Skarresø is almost completely surrounded by woods, which is not normal on Sjælland for the larger lakes. The land around is poor on chalk, which can explain why it was left for forest management. Hence, the water was very suitable for steam locomotives due to its non-aggressive nature, and therefore the railway was placed close to the lake.
Now it is a very quiet place, so quiet that a pair of white-tailed sea eagles has bred for the last appr. 5 years. This is a good place to watch them.
Pano made from 8 pics (RAW), 50 mm, iso-100, f/8, 1/400 sec, developed in DPP (neutral, cloudy, moderate sharpness), a tick of magenta out, shadows brightened up a bit in GIMP, down-scaling and sharpening in IrfanView.
I tried to rip off HJB's #14026, but didn't quite make it...maybe because his is overshadowed, and mine is in the sun?
