I had proposed a little quiz.
The pano shows an accumulation of common salt and is located in the salt marshes of Margherita di Savoia, Apulia.
The Margherita di Savoia saltworks are the largest marine saltworks in Italy, with average annual production of approximately 5,500,000 quintals of salt, placing them amongst the top European saltworks in terms of volume and size.
They are located in the Basso Tavoliere area of Apulia, a region in Southern Italy, immediately behind the Gargano promontory.
The saltworks run lengthways, parallel to the Adriatic coast, for a distance of approximately 20 km, with a maximum width of 4 km. They cover a surface area of approximately 4000 hectares.
It plays a significant role as an area of stopover, wintering and breeding along the migratory routes of birds that cross the Mediterranean.
Moreover in the early 1990s The Phoenicopterus ruber (greater flamingo) has colonised the salt marsh in great number, around 6,000 today, making it the largest concentration of the species in mainland Italy.

@Cristoph: the first question you answered right, it is a mountain of salt. But it is not the Salina di Santa Gilla. I think Alberto know.

I am completetly happy, that I already recognized the salt heap correctly on the first spot. Not knowing the exact location and leaving it to the local expert to pinpoint it correctly is quite OK for me :-)

It´s really crazy. I spent my holiday last year near Barletta. I discovered the scenery of Apulia - but I didn´t see this "white mountain" ;-).
It seems like you will see a couple of panoramas of your country in the future ...

Hello Giuseppe,
I likes the salt mountain and the clouds.
Best regards,
