SOLVED RIDDLE.

Last Saturday I went to Tuscany for personal reasons and above all to buy some wine ;-)
I did not have much free time, but I managed to get some pano.

Comments

This is very difficult if you've never been there.

It's a beautiful area, but you can not see any famous place. I liked the contrast between the wind turbines and the traditional landscape. There are some nearby panos (2-3 Km), but with different and more traditional views.

Mentor, can I tell you something?
We are on this website to relax and have fun with our hobby, not to conduct useless ideological wars. Do not alter the ratings. It is not acceptable. Forget the wrong and the reasons and resume to behave with correctness and passion.

@Giuseppe, that is what I would like to do but there is a hardcore group that acts as a whole against me giving me little choice to shoot back with a weapon they are sensitive to. We have seen now that nearly everybody on this site is sensitive to the ratings even when they claim they don't. I still think it was very unfair how my uncompleted Waterfront 326° was knocked down only for a subjective reason and which was the start of this polemic. I have still some nice panos in my computer but of course I am reluctant to post them for this hostile audience. Anyway it should be much better without this stupid rating which is complete nonsense when a narrow group constantly rates itself. But I will take your suggestion into consideration, thx.

Mentor, I think nobody is so stupid as to think that this evaluation system is perfect. You do not know it, but, for example, my friend Christoph Seger has always tried to change this evaluation system. But one thing is to try to change things, one thing is to not respect others.
Now I'm going to sleep and before tomorrow afternoon I will not be able to reply to anyone...

@Giuseppe, I didn't know that. But who decided to narrow the rules to a simplistic all or nothing? I have a big problem with that because nothing here is the same as abstention. If a perfectly made pano gets no rating because someone doesn't like a certain detail or if a pano with defects gets no rating, the score is equal and totally out of reality.
In my view the original website system, with the 6 voting possibilities, yields a a much better score if a set of rules based on elements such as: photo metrics, information, defects, originality, colors, aesthetics,..., are followed. Maybe that is too complicated and also remains vulnerable to misuse.
I agree we should be here to relax and have fun in the first place. That's why this pano site should have no rating system instead of something ridiculous. Why people stick with this is beyond my understanding?

Mentor, when one participates in a website, implicitly accepts the rules that have been established. One can try to change them, but in the meantime must respect them.
That said, I prefer to be not involved in any controversy. I just want to keep putting my panos in peace. If someone likes my panos, I'm very happy, if someone does not like them, I do not make a drama. Like many others, I am aware of the limits of the evaluation system.
I would like to go back to the riddle.

I have no idea about the area, can you give a hint ?

Tuscan.

A very nice Silhouette ! Is it eventually the skyline of Volterra ?
2018/12/03 21:39 , Hans-Jürgen Bayer
It is not Volterra. The profile of Volterra is quite famous. This is a small village, almost unknown even for the Tuscans. But we are not too far from Volterra.
2018/12/03 22:55 , Giuseppe Marzulli
Is it located on SR439 ?
2018/12/04 10:02 , Hans-Jürgen Bayer
We are about 3,5 km from SR 439.

so many nice little villages around this area. One more try: San Dalmazio ?
2018/12/04 18:03 , Hans-Jürgen Bayer
No, it's north of Volterra. Thanks for the solution attempts.

Always hard with a tele-pano. Basing on the ground-work already done by Hans-Jürgen, the tower at 2/3 of the pano could be that of San Pietro Belvedere. Cheers, Martin

Yes, San Pietro Belvedere. Certainly not easy, because, unlike my other riddles, there was no known reference point. San Pietro Belvedere is a nice place, but it is a very small village, almost unknown even for the Tuscans.
I thank very much those who participated.
