San Miniato is a Tuscan town, whose historic center is located in a strategic position on a hill halfway between Florence and Pisa.
In the Middle Ages it was called "San Miniato al Tedesco" (San Miniato to the German), because Frederick II of Swabia erected the fortress in the town (visible in the pano) and there he lived his vicar for Tuscany.
In the background, you can see the main peaks of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines.

Ti faccio notare che a sinistra del Corno alle Scale si distingue anche/perfino il bernoccolo del mio N.20079.
Il mio panorama infatti prendeva le mosse da un concerto, e mi č venuto il mente che io a San Miniato ci andavo a trovare Ottaviano Tenerani, un clavicembalista che poi ha fondato un ensemble di musica barocca. Qualche anno fa Ottaviano ha anche scoperto, nella biblioteca del conservatorio di Firenze, una copia manoscritta di un'opera attribuita a Händel, dal titolo Germanico, opera della quale poi ha anche fatto la prima incisione, per la Deutsche Harmonia Mundi.
