During the Cold War on the Tower of Gonjace a sentence by Marshal Tito was carved. This sentence said that one day everything that was seen from the Tower of Gnjace would become Yugoslav.
Almost everything that can be seen in this pano is found in Italy.
Yugoslavia disappeared without too many regrets and now this is one of the most pleasant borders to cross.

The agreements between Hitler and Mussolini foresaw that Lubliana and the whole of Slovenia would become an Italian province.
Since the border that had been established in that area after the Second World War was very disputed by the Italians, that of Tito was a warning. Or the Italians stopped discussing the border, or he would have advanced further claims.
However, very few are now aware of these events. Fortunately, both Italians and Slovenians prefer to forget them.
Coming to more pleasant things, it is said that from the Tower of Gonjace it is possible to see even the bell tower of San Marco in Venice. I went twice to the Gonjace Tower on clear days, but I could not see the bell tower of San Marco. Try to search. If you had to identify it, it would be an excellent result. However your labels are very good and the pano is great.
But it's simply impossible, it would need to be 300m higher, but the top of the tower would be to small anyway.
LG Thomas
But that is a strong wine area and I'm not sure they were sober when they saw it ;-)
However, I realize that, in some cases, it is not easy to separate history from politics and I am sorry I did.
Tomorrow I will delete any my comment from this discussion, except if Steffen asks me to leave them.
I can only congratulate again Steffen for the excellent pano.
I can only congratulate to this wonderful Panorama - really a masterpiece.
LG Werner
@Sebastian - danke.
