The Montaña Palentina (left part) and the mountain system of Fuentes Carrionas (right part) are part of the Cordillera Cantábrica watershed dividing "wet" (oceanic) northern Spain from the (oceanic-continental) central Spain. The are included in the "Parque Natural de Fuentes Carrionas y Fuente Cobre-Montaña Palentina" covering parts of the southern flank and being located in the province of Palencia / Comunidad Autónoma Castilla y León.
The Mirador de las Matas on CL-627 just north of Cervera de Pisuerga is a perfect sopt to get an overview of the area. It is a wild and rugged territory, hardly accessibla and home to bears and wolves.
It was simply admirable
