Location: Nameless hill (644 m)      by: Pedrotti Alberto
Area: Argentina      Date: 12-02-2014
Deviating a little from the classical Vuelta al Huemul (see N.18485, "Paso Huemul"), I reached this anonymous hill that promised an interesting view over the surrounding area. The place is difficult to locate into the classical touristic categories concerning the Chalten region. Namely, the view opens with the N shore of Lago Viedma, which hosts the access road to the village. Next it goes on with the nearly unknown ranges south of the lake, and with the tongue of the glacier barely visible low down. At the end, after the overwhelming mass of Cerro Huemul, come the bigs, Torre and Fitzoy, from here looking truly like towers in the desert.
With all this material to look at, however, my attention was polarized over an unique, fixed spot: the delta of Río Túnel, which was already beginning to reflect the moonlight. Its ford happens to be the most challenging operation within the Vuelta al Huemul, since a bridge swept away by the water has never been replaced.

Wow, once again your picture almost leaves me speechless! It is not just a perfect location, but you also found it with perfect light conditions.

Good that you like it
As at the time of the "trial version" that perhaps you remember, I am very little convinced by what I am able to obtain here from the color profiles available in Lightroom. For comparison, there is the DPP version on Alpen N.25711
Cheers, Alberto.

Difficult to say which one is better. I personally like this one a bit more, but without knowing it I would also like the other one...

What an impressive landscape - and what a priviledge to enjoy the classic and well-known blue skies of Patagonia. Cheers, Martin
