Location: Skarresø (19 m)      by: Jan Lindgaard Rasmussen
Area: Denmark      Date: 2013-10-06, 14:49
Skarresø is almost completely surrounded by woods, which is not normal on Sjælland for the larger lakes. The land around is poor on chalk, which can explain why it was left for forest management. Hence, the water was very suitable for steam locomotives due to its non-aggressive nature, and therefore the railway was placed close to the lake.

Now it is a very quiet place, so quiet that a pair of white-tailed sea eagles has bred for the last appr. 5 years. This is a good place to watch them.

Pano made from 8 pics (RAW), 50 mm, iso-100, f/8, 1/400 sec, developed in DPP (neutral, cloudy, moderate sharpness), a tick of magenta out, shadows brightened up a bit in GIMP, down-scaling and sharpening in IrfanView.

I tried to rip off HJB's #14026, but didn't quite make it...maybe because his is overshadowed, and mine is in the sun?

Comments

Fall has almost begun to colour the top of the trees. A very nicely stitched water surface. VG HJ.

I like your colours better than on the 14026. I think I tried too hard and it was a tele. I prefer #13992 :-)

I understand. Maybe the audience on 14026 (I am not the only one to like it) is immediately affected, without the "frustration" of having seen it live and trying to reach a certain style one has settled on:-) LG Jan.

I think the three pictures discussed here are - beside showing a lake - completely different and can not be compared. I like your workflow, sounds familiar to me :-)

Cheers, Danko.

@Christoph:
I agree, I just think HJB on that particular pano nailed a very attractive colourscale which I would like to adopt somehow - but, as you once wrote: Der Weg ist der ziel...LG Jan.
